The Committee of Privileges (COP) hearing on 3 December 2021 focused on Ms. Loh Pei Ying, who was Pritam Singh’s former secretarial assistant and had served as Raeesah Khan’s assistant in the Workers’ Party.
During her testimony, Ms. Loh revealed that she had been aware of the false anecdote Raeesah Khan had shared in Parliament about accompanying a sexual assault victim to the police station. She confirmed that Raeesah Khan had confessed to her lie shortly after her speech in August 2021. Ms. Loh testified that Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, and Faisal Manap were aware of the falsehood and had instructed Raeesah Khan to continue with the untruth.
Ms. Loh’s testimony raised questions about the Workers’ Party’s handling of the situation and suggested that senior members were involved in advising Raeesah on how to proceed. Her account contributed to the broader inquiry into whether Raeesah Khan and other party members had misled Parliament intentionally.
The hearing was part of the committee’s efforts to investigate potential breaches of parliamentary privilege related to the Raeesah Khan saga.
